Birth trauma impacts around 30,000 women across the UK each year. Shockingly, statistics show that 53% of women who have undergone birth trauma are less inclined to consider having children in the future.

A staggering 84% of women who experienced tears during childbirth reported not receiving adequate information about birth injuries beforehand.

On January 9, 2024, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on birth trauma within the UK commenced an inquiry to delve into the root causes of traumatic births and to formulate policy recommendations geared towards reducing unnecessary traumatic events.

Research indicates that approximately 4–5% of women develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following childbirth, amounting to an estimated 25,000–30,000 women annually in the UK.

Studies reveal that a significant proportion of women, up to one in three, perceive certain aspects of their childbirth experience as traumatic.
